Termination loads
A termination load (dummy load) closes the unused port of a hybrid combiner, power splitter or tapper into 50 ohms. The load turns the power arriving at the port into heat, so the signal isn't reflected back into the network and doesn't degrade its return loss.
In an in-building network the load's PIM matters as much as any other passive component's. A poor load can generate intermodulation that shows up in the whole system's receive band, and tracing it afterwards is slow work.
BDC termination loads are low PIM models with a 4.3-10 male connector. They cover 380–3800 MHz and come rated for 10 W, 50 W or 100 W: choose by the power arriving at the port. Return loss is ≥ 21 dB and PIM ≤ −160 dBc on every model as guaranteed minimums.
